Mark Wahlberg will never return to his rapping roots.
The Fighter star admits he’s surprised that some of his admirers still remember his old rap persona, Marky-Mark, from 20 years ago and shocked when he’s called it.
“I still get the occasional person calling me Marky-Mark which is a little weird after all this time,” says Mark, 40.
“There was a time when you do something and try to distance yourself from that past because you’re trying to do something else but I’m okay with it.
“It wasn’t an easy thing to accomplish but I think we’re far enough away from it now. That was all a long time ago and it’s not something I’m looking to go back to, that’s for sure.”
Mark recently admitted that since settling down and starting a family, he has no time for his old antics with pals.
“I’ve stopped hanging out with my friends at night,” he said.
“I don’t really miss it. You think you miss it, and then you go back and it’s the same thing. There’s nothing better than now. Last night we went to dinner at 6.30. I was in bed by 9.30. And that was a late night for me!
“When I’m home, I’m usually in bed by 8.30. But I wake up in the morning, and I have the whole day to do whatever I want. I don’t have to wake up feeling like s***, or feeling guilty. So it’s a good thing. I still have golf as my only guilty pleasure.”
