Jennifer Aniston is adopting a new dog.
The Marley and Me actress who was left devastated by the death of her beloved pet pooch Norman last year has decided to start 2012 off in style by getting a new canine friend.
“Jennifer decided to give herself a New Year’s present to start the year off right – a new dog,” a source said.
“She has been in mourning since Norman died.”
After visiting the Utah-based Best Friends Animal Society, Jennifer, 42, fell in love with a shepherd mix and wants to give the dog a loving family.
“Jen is ready to give another needy dog a home,” the source added.
Last year, Jennifer who is dating actor Justin Theroux got a tattoo in homage to Norman, by having his name tattooed on the inside of her right foot.
Explaining the inking she said, “That’s my dog. My baby who just passed away.
“I never thought that would ever happen. It’s just my way to pay homage to him forever.”
Norman, a Welsh corgi-terrier mix, accompanied Jennifer who also has a white German Shepherd named Dolly everywhere, including on film location shoots, but he passed away last May due to complications from his old age.
